It’s been another tough fall weekend for Philadelphia football — and I’m not even talking about the Eagles. Temple and Penn both lost this weekend — and in case you were looking forward to a Penn State come-from-behind victory — it never came as the Michigan Wolverines turned to backup quarterback Tommy Carr in the 21–18 against the Nittany Lions.

But then we had the Villanova Wildcats (3–4) to the rescue.

From the jump in the Bronx, New York against Fordham — Villanova’s pair of running backs were off to the races. The Wildcats never looked back.

The Wildcasts opened the scoring after an 83-yard drive ending with a 15-yard Isaiah Ragland touchdown run. Then — Ja’briel Mace scampered seven yards to cap a 75-yard Villanova drive and put the Wildcats up 14–7. With 10:47 left in the first half — Braden Reed hauled in a 14-yard touchdown catch from Ragland. After a Rams field goal — Villanova then capped off a 72-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to go up 28–10.

Villanova picked up in the third quarter with a 55-yard drive that ended with a Pat McQuaide to Julian Glantz one-yard touchdown pass. After another Wildcat field goal — Fordham scored on a 3-yard Gunnar Smith touchdown.

McQuaide threw for 235 yards and two scores. Mace rushed for 79 yards and a score on 13 carries, and Isaiah Ragland rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on ten carries.
