THE VICTORY PARADE | Write Out Loud

THE VICTORY PARADE | Write Out Loud

Because the Trin had won they

Took the bus on Sunday

The streets were lined in colours for the Wakey Parade;

Though I’m no supporter

I confess I fought a

Tear back on the day that Time cannot ever jade.

Photos which were mainly

Black and white and grainy

Witnessed to the 60’s when their glories were made:

But now that Wakey’s won it,

Red, white and blue upon it,

The Cup displays its colours in the Victory Parade.

No-one would believe it

No pundit would conceive it

A story so fantastic that the rugby gods made;

Sceptics only gape as

They read it in their papers

And saw the Monday photos of the Wakey Parade.

So Wigan and St Helens

We made you look like melons

The balance has been tilted now the ghost has been laid;

So watch as on your telly

Our bus crawls through the melee

Of red and white and blue shirts in the Victory Parade.
