Donald Trump, president of the United States and notorious bottle blond, has long been known for his capriciousness when it comes to those he surrounds himself with, able to do 180s on folks who were once trusted colleagues and turn them into video game foes (just look at Michaels Pence, Cohen, and Flynn, to name a few). There’s one peroxide blowout, however, who’s consistently been spotted at Trump’s side, often clutching a disheveled stack of printouts, since 2022: Natalie Harp.
Harp currently holds the dual roles of special assistant and executive assistant to the president. She reportedly sits at a desk just outside the Oval Office; pulls in a taxpayer-funded $150,000 annual salary; has unmatched access to Trump; is responsible for posting his Truth Social missives; travels alongside the president (including during his recent secret airplane switcheroo exodus from Turkey); fields texts from world leaders; and more. Harp even celebrated her 35th birthday earlier this month at Trump’s side: That’s her in the background of the fourth photo in Lara Trump’s Instagram post, ringing in her mid-30s at Trump’s Bedminster golf club.
In All or Nothing, Michael Wolff’s chronicle of the 2024 election, Wolff revealed Harp’s duty as Trump’s “good-news printer,” with the aide toting a wireless printer to conjure printouts of news articles and emails to hand to Trump for his satisfaction, validation, and jubilation.
Assistants don’t normally come with this much lore, but Trump has never been one to follow conventions, and Harp’s unusually intimate bond with him hasn’t gone unnoticed, within or outside of the White House.
Jon Ossoff, the Democratic Georgia senator who’s been floated for a 2028 presidential run (though he says he has no interest), struck a nerve over the weekend when he invoked Harp’s name, saying of Trump, “He doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.”
The Trump loyalists, knowing of the commander in chief’s fondness for Harp, got big mad.
Contacted Wednesday by Vanity Fair, White House spokesman Davis Ingle jumped to Harp’s defense.
“Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest-working aides on President Trump’s team,” he writes via email. “The Fake News’s continued attacks on President Trump and his Administration prove exactly why trust in media is at historic lows. The media should get back to reporting real news and stop regurgitating Trump-Deranged liberal talking points.”
The White House declined to make Harp available for an interview.
In the spirit of the loyalty and work ethic of the seemingly tireless Harp, we thought it was about time to shape up and take a page out of her book. A WWND? moment of contemplation, if you will.
