Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have been an absolutely miserable watch as of late. Not all the blame can be put on Tanner McKee; the team wasn’t exactly riveting even with Jalen Hurts. However, a boring team is easier to look past when winning comes with it.
The Eagles might be the worst team in the league right now. I would not put it past them to lose to the 0-7 Chargers if the two were to play at this very moment. Philadelphia’s offense is abysmal, and while the defense is not nearly as bad as the statistics present, it’s not fooling anyone. Regression has hit in a big way, and it looks like winning has gone down the drain. The tank is on!
If winning is no longer a concern, why not try out some new things? Sirianni’s seat is as hot as Nashville during week 2, and he should want to go out swinging. He will either get fired after pushing out the most boring possible offense week after week (which we already know does not work), or he’ll get fired after taking risks (which might work) and maybe even making the team worth watching.

Here is a list of some changes that would maximize the watchability of the Eagles. In a normal season, it would be ridiculous to present these ideas. But this year is anything but a normal season…
Start Joe Milton III
This is the easiest way to get Eagles fans to tune in. Joe Milton III is not just another quarterback for fans to compare to Jalen Hurts; he is a wonderfully athletic signal-caller with a cannon of an arm.
Tanner McKee could not pass the ball downfield against Washington. You want downfield passing? How about the passer with the fastest-recorded throw speed in combine history and the ability to launch an 80-yard bomb with ease.
The classic joke: if you want Joe Milton to throw you an 80-yard pass, he will throw you an 80-yard pass. If you want Joe Milton to throw you a 5-yard slant, he will throw you an 80-yard pass.

Milton does not promise a team consistency. Milton does not promise a team winning. But he does promise a team one heck of a show.
Better yet, he got cut from the Cowboys. If I know two things about Philadelphia, the city loves an underdog, and hates the Cowboys. The Thanksgiving game in Dallas is in three weeks. The Eagles have three weeks to prepare Joe Milton for undoubtedly the biggest game of the season.
Empty The Playbook
The best play the Eagles ran on Sunday night against the Commanders was an awesome wildcat touchdown run by Saquon Barkley with extra blocker Fred Johnson. Saquon planted his foot in the dirt and cut outside to the right with speed and agility, running all the way to the endzone for six points to give the Eagles an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
Then the Commanders scored twenty-seven straight points to win the game.
The Eagles showed signs of creativity, and it worked. Then they forgot their only touchdown of the game and never ran it from wildcat formation ever again. Saquon Barkley needs the ball in his hands, especially now that the Eagles’ runningback room has been decimated. If wildcat formation is what it takes to get Saquon the ball, I’m all for it.

They shouldn’t run the entire game from wildcat formation, but when it produces your only touchdown of the game, you don’t want to entirely stray away from it either. Find the happy medium, introduce some other creative concepts, and make it fun.
Theoretically, if Nick Sirianni has been sitting on a play that he thinks is too foolish or strange to run, he needs to pull it out as soon as possible. Nothing is too strange for this Eagles season, and Sirianni might not get another chance to implement it.
Embrace The Struggle
If the Eagles really are not going to win another game, which seems likely, they need to embrace it. Be honest in press conferences. Everyone knows that this season has been awful, so the Eagles should not try to cover everything up and pretend like it hasn’t.
What’s important now is not that they win; it’s that they give everything they have to the remaining games and show life. Being real and transparent about their struggles is the first step.
An awareness of losing puts the Eagles in a much better position for winning in the future. They need to take it in, hate it, and do everything they can to make sure it doesn’t happen next year.
This year is a lost cause, but the city wants to love the Eagles. The Eagles just need to give the people a reason to.
