The unexpected drop comes as Disney+ revealed the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning series will return for its fifth and final season later this year, with all eight episodes set to be released at once.

Set to continue the story immediately after a major turning point, the new season begins the morning after Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie, and Natalie “Sugar” (Abby Elliott) learn that Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) has walked away from the food industry, leaving the restaurant’s future in their hands.

Facing financial strain, the looming possibility of a sale and a severe storm, the remaining team must pull together for one last service in a bid to secure a Michelin star.

The series ultimately explores the idea that a restaurant’s success may rest less on perfection in food and more on the strength of its people.

Alongside its core cast, the show also features Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Ricky Staffieri, Oliver Platt, Will Poulter and Jamie Lee Curtis appearing in recurring roles.

Created by Christopher Storer, the series is executive produced by Storer, Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai and Rene Gube, with Courtney Storer serving as culinary producer. It is produced by FX Productions.

The Bear – Season 5 premieres Thursday 26 June, 2026 on Disney+
