In the video, a large truck can be seen swerving across double lines of a two-lane highway, veering into the oncoming lane.
As the truck takes a wide turn over a bend in the road, it narrowly misses two motorcycles travelling in the opposite direction.
Tasmania Police Inspector Vanessa Castle described the vision as “frightening”.
“It was a very close call and could have had a tragic outcome,” she said.
“Police are investigating the incident and are eager to identify the vehicles involved and to speak with the driver of the heavy vehicle.”
Inspector Castle said no crash was reported but police want the motorcyclists to come forward to assist with their investigation.
