Former Beauty and the Geek cast member Tamika Chesser has faced court for the first time since giving birth to a baby boy while in custody on murder charges.
7NEWS can reveal the accused killer, 34, gave birth to the child in hospital earlier this year, but the newborn is in the care of her family.

Chesser appeared via video link from James Nash House today sporting a new look, without her previously shaved head and now with long hair. She sat quietly throughout the brief hearing.
The 27-year-old is facing one charge of murder and one charge of destroying human remains. The court heard both charges have been finalised.
The former reality star is accused of brutally killing and beheading her boyfriend Julian Story in their Port Lincoln unit in June last year.
Story’s head was recovered a month later by a dog walker.

It was revealed Chesser was pregnant in November, with the accused killer giving birth to a little boy while still in custody.
It remains unclear who the father of the child is.
The case will return to court in August.
