Sufiya Sufi Breaks Her Own Guinness World Record With 4,167 KM Kanyakumari to Kashmir Run

When Sufiya Sufi first laced up her running shoes, she could manage only a three-kilometre run. She had no way of knowing that the small beginning would eventually lead her across the length of India, into the Guinness World Records, and towards a life far removed from the aviation career she had built over the previous decade.

After spending 10 years in a secure job, she chose to leave the profession behind and devote herself to endurance running. It was a decision that would redefine her ambitions.

In 2019, she ran from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 87 days, setting a Guinness World Record. Rather than letting that achievement stand on its own, she returned determined to better her own time.

Running from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, she covered 4,167 km in 68 days and 23 hours, breaking her own Guinness World Record. The feat also marked her sixth Guinness World Record, adding another chapter to a journey that has been influenced by persistence as much as endurance.

The road did not end in Kashmir

Finishing the Kanyakumari to Kashmir route was only one part of her mission. From Kashmir, she continued towards Karakoram, dedicating the journey to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces.

The route pushed her through intense heat, incessant rain, heavy traffic, and sharp mountain roads. There were days when pain and exhaustion became constant companions, but she stayed on course, covering one stretch after another until she reached her destination.

From a runner who once struggled through three kilometres to someone who has crossed India multiple times on foot, Sufiya’s journey has been defined by a willingness to return to the start and ask whether she could do better than before.

Her latest run is another answer to that question, proving that for her, the only benchmark worth chasing is the one she set herself yesterday.
