Sehar Hashmi & Feroze Khan’s Hug Scene in Shaidai Sparks Debate

Feroze Khan and Sahar Hashmi are two celebrated Pakistani stars who have established themselves as remarkable actors. Feroze has delivered multiple hit dramas like Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3, Ishqiya, Habs, Gul-e-Rana, and the blockbuster Khaani. Sahar Hashmi, on the other hand, has quickly risen to fame with her impressive performances in Zulm and Mann Mast Malang. Her drama Mann Mast Malang, opposite Danish Taimoor, became a massive success and collectively garnered around 2 billion views across platforms. Nowadays, both Feroze Khan and Sahar Hashmi are getting praise for their admirable chemistry in the drama series Shaidai, a grand production of 7th Sky Entertainment. The drama is directed by Ali Faizaan.

A scene from drama series Shaidai episode 9 is currently doing rounds on social media where Miraal, who is shown as a girl from a modest middle-class conservative background, played by Sahar Hashmi, hugs Ali in an office setup. The scene has sparked a debate among audiences, with many saying it is not the norm in our society for a girl to hug her colleague, and that it should not be shown on TV. First, watch the scene:

The scene is receiving severe public backlash. A drama viewer wrote, “Since when did we start hugging in Pakistani dramas? What’s next?” Another wrote, “I can’t understand why only Sahar Hashmi gets such steamy scenes. What is this hugging culture? Why do girls get so close to boys? It doesn’t represent our society, so please stay within limits.” One said, “When we speak against them, they do mind it and get sympathy from others.” One wrote, “Pakistani dramas were known for decency and meaningful stories, without unethical scenes. Especially Geo should bring back that originality since most of these kinds of scenes are seen in their dramas.” Fans are of the view that Pakistani drama makers are taking inspiration from Turkey and soon kissing scenes will be normalized on the TV.
