A roofer died Wednesday afternoon after he fell from atop a Southborough home, local public safety officials said.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of the individual who lost his life following yesterday’s incident,” the Southborough Police Department and Fire Department said in a joint press release on Facebook.

A roofing contractor sustained “serious injuries when he fell from the roof of a home on Southborough’s Flagg Road, the departments wrote.

The roofer was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, they said.

The name of the victim is being withheld. Updates will be provided when they become available, the release said.

The fall is being investigated by Southborough police detectives, State Police, and the Worcester District Attorney’s Office, the departments wrote.
