A sick Reynella man has had his week turned around after discovering he was the only person in Australia to win division one in the weekend’s Super 66 draw.
The Adelaide resident was bedridden with a cold when lottery officials called to confirm he had landed a whopping $123,418.35 in Super 66 draw 4707, drawn on Saturday, August 29th.
And his reaction? “How exciting!”
The man initially thought he had won just $130 when he checked his ticket, but there was one small problem.
“I didn’t have my glasses on,” he said. “Once I put them on, I couldn’t believe it. Surprise! Surprise!”
The unexpected windfall came at a particularly welcome time, with the Reynella resident stuck in bed recovering from a cold.
“I am bedridden, sick with a cold. This has definitely made my week!” he said.
“I had a good laugh. I don’t normally play Super 66 and my father years ago used to tell me, ‘No one ever wins Super 66 or if they do it’s only a $13 win’.”
Despite rarely playing the game, the man decided to give it a go — and his gamble paid off.
“But I’ve always thought, you have to be in it to win it!”
His winning entry was a 12-game QuickPick purchased through The Lott app, with the Reynella man now planning to take a sensible approach to his newfound fortune.
“The best thing for me will be to put it into a long-term deposit and hopefully watch it grow,” he said.
The winning numbers in Super 66 draw 4707 were 1, 6, 0, 7, 4 and 5.
The win was the only division one Super 66 entry across the country in the draw, making the Reynella resident Australia’s newest Super 66 division one winner.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 247 so far this calendar year, including 22 won by South Australian customers.
There are also more chances for lottery players to try their luck, with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering $4 million and Thursday’s Powerball offering $20 million.
Super 66 is an add-on game played alongside Saturday X Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Oz Lotto and Powerball.
