Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar chaired a key meeting of the Sports Board Punjab, where several major decisions were taken to promote sports across the province.
The meeting approved the construction of modern swimming pools in all divisional headquarters. Authorities also decided to reduce swimming registration fees by 50% to encourage greater youth participation.
Officials further agreed to establish a modern control room within the sports department and introduce a camera-based monitoring system for sports complexes across Punjab.
A performance evaluation system (KPI-based) will also be implemented to reward high-performing officers and take action against poor performance.
The meeting also endorsed the establishment of the University of Sports Sciences Punjab to promote research and advanced training in the sports sector.
Additionally, approval was granted for a housing colony for sports department employees.
Authorities approved an annual sports calendar and decided to outsource sports facilities while conducting income audits across all divisions and districts.
The meeting also backed signing an MoU for the Mian Mir Squash Complex and stressed strengthening transparency and accountability mechanisms.
The sports minister reiterated the government’s commitment to modernizing the sports sector and providing better facilities to youth across Punjab.
