As the New England Patriots headed back for a final practice in Foxborough, so did Craig Woodson.
The starting safety had been sidelined for the previous two sessions after not finishing the home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a shoulder injury. He moves forward as questionable to face the Jacksonville Jaguars along with tight end Eli Raridon.
But head coach Mike Vrabel also announced during his Friday press conference that outside linebackers Dre’Mont Jones and Quintayvious Hutchins have been ruled out for the trip to EverBank Stadium. The latter has since been placed on injured reserve.
Here’s the rest of the game statuses leading up to Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
New England’s edges will be down a pair in Jacksonville. Jones, who notched a sack in his debut, suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter of last Sunday’s 20-3 win while attempting to recover a fumble. The March signing has not been spotted at practice since then. The same attendance has held for Hutchins due to a knee injury that now brings him to IR. The seventh-round pick from Boston College made the 53-man roster out of training camp.
Amid the attrition, which also recently hit the right guard spot, the Patriots promoted outside linebacker Jose Ramirez from the practice squad.
The lone Jaguar to carry a game designation into the weekend, Regis was a limited participant on Friday due to a an elbow injury. The third-round defensive tackle from Texas A&M checks in as doubtful for matinee.
Woodson was downgraded from questionable last weekend after playing 46 defensive snaps for a Patriots safety depth chart that has since lost Dell Pettus to injured reserve. He was listed as limited following his return to practice on Friday. The position also includes captain Kevin Byard III and August trade acquisition Jaylen Reed on the 53, while Elliott Davison and veteran Mike Brown reside on the practice squad.
As for Raridon on the other side of the ball, the third-rounder out of Notre Dame suffered a thigh injury 11 offensive snaps into his first career start. A partial participant on Wednesday before becoming an absence on Thursday and Friday, he has registered two receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown this September. Captain Hunter Henry, waiver claim Cameron Latu and undrafted rookie Tanner Arkin make up the rest of the New England’s active tight end group.
Elsewhere for the Patriots, fullback Reggie Gilliam, offensive tackles Morgan Moses and Dametrious Crownover, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and cornerback Carlton Davis III will all go without game statuses.
