The New England Patriots will head into the fall without Quintayvious Hutchins on the field.
The organization officially placed the rookie outside linebacker on injured reserve Friday afternoon. No corresponding 53-man roster move was announced as the Jacksonville Jaguars await the arrival of the 2025 AFC champions.
That leaves a spot open on the way to EverBank Stadium.
Hutchins, 23, had been ruled out along with veteran outside linebacker Dre’Mont Jones after missing three consecutive practices due to a knee injury. The former Boston College team captain was among several players to not finish last weekend’s 20-3 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and will now miss a minimum of four games.
Taken in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL draft at No. 247 overall, Hutchins marked the last selection for the war room. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound rookie out of Chestnut Hill outlasted the 53-man roster deadline following training camp. In two games from there, he had a hand in three tackles across 16 snaps on defense and 12 snaps on special teams.
He stands as the 10th player currently on injured reserve in Foxborough.
The Patriots recently promoted edge rusher Jose Ramirez from the practice squad to the active roster amid the attrition. The depth chart also includes sophomore starter Elijah Ponder and rookie second-rounder Gabe Jacas, who have combined for two sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and one touchdown return this September.
New England’s final injury report saw tight end tight end Eli Raridon and safety Craig Woodson listed as questionable for the road trip to Jacksonville.
Sunday’s kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
