The third period of Saturday night’s matchup between the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks was a high-scoring one.

The hosting Bruins netted four goals in the final frame and the Sharks potted two, but Boston had a critical sequence that featured back-to-back goals to give them the lead late and ultimately help them come out victorious.

Captain David Pastrnak came out of the penalty box after serving his time for tripping with less than 12 minutes remaining in the period and came up huge for the Bruins. He launched a snap shot from the left face-off circle past Alex Nedeljkovic, San Jose’s goalie, to tie the game at three after being on the ice for less than 10 seconds.

Watch Pastrnak’s game-tying score:

Pastrnak’s goal marked his seventh of the season and the 427th of his career. It tied him with Patrice Bergeron for the third-most goals in Bruins history, behind Johnny Bucyk (545) and Phil Esposito (459).

Boston wasn’t finished after Pastrnak’s thrilling game-tier. Rookie sensation James Hagens got in on the fun, too, potting a goal of his own just 30 seconds later to give the Bruins a 4-3 lead.

Hagens, 19, managed to poke the puck past Nedeljkovic while directly in front of the netminder, which sent TD Garden into a frenzy.

Here’s the youngster’s clutch goal and his fourth on the year:

Three minutes later, Fraser Minten increased Boston’s lead to 5-3, only 27 seconds before the Sharks’ Will Smith made things tight. Smith made it a one-goal game during a 4-on-4 to cap a late-game frenzy.

Luckily for the Bruins, Will Borgen added some insurance with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation to lock in a 6-4 win. The victory improved Boston’s record to 9-2-1; it also marked the team’s eighth consecutive contest in which it came away with at least one point toward the NHL standings.

A wild one at home continued an exciting stretch of Bruins hockey to begin the 2026-27 campaign. Boston will look to keep the good times rolling in search of its 10th win when the team visits the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday.
