Oscar Pistorius reportedly has a job now, with the killer living his life away from the public eye 13 years after murdering Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of Valentine’s Day.
The world was shocked in 2013 when it emerged that the South African had gunned down Reeva, his girlfriend, firing four shots through a locked toilet door.
Pistorius always maintained that he had mistaken her for an intruder. Initially, he was convicted of culpable homicide in 2014 before the charge was upgraded to murder.
In January 2024, the man formerly known as the Blade Runner was released on parole. He lives under strict conditions, with his parole due to expire in 2029.
Little is known about Pistorius these days. There was a sighting of him in 2024, with images widely published, while he also took part in a 70-mile cycling event in Durban last year.
New details have now emerged, however, with a report from the Daily Mail providing an update on the 39-year-old and what his day-to-day life looks like.
Pistorius is said to enjoy playing padel and is seen around the Pretoria community, with one local saying that he’s seen in a bike shop ‘drinking a cappuccino, talking to the staff about cycling’.

Another revealed that he has a job now, with several suggesting that he took up a role with a sound engineering company in 2025.
“We don’t want to know about him round here,” said one resident. “He’s like a ghost. He’s disappeared off the face of the earth and most people are happy for it to stay like that.
“Apparently he has a job now, though no major company would go near him.”

Pistorius, it seems, works because he wants to.
There is no financial motive, with the former athlete living with his uncle, Arnold, at a luxury mansion. Arnold is one of the richest men in the region and raised Pistorius after his mother died in 2002.
Pistorius, it’s said, has also turned to God.
The 38-year-old has joined a modern gospel church and frequently attends with his new girlfriend, Rita Greyling.
Pistorius volunteers at church, with one local saying he helps out with issues such as parking and serving coffee. He is said to be ‘part of our community’.
Furthermore, the ex-Paralympian has another companion who frequently keeps his company: a dog named Maggie.

Described as one of the cutest pooches in the neighbourhood, she is also his ‘comfort creature’. A furry friend who ‘eases any social anxiety’ when he does leave the safety, and comfort, of his uncle’s mansion.
Meanwhile, though life goes on for Pistorius, the suffering of the Steenkamps remains ongoing.
Reeva’s father, Barry, died in September 2023. He met Pistorius in prison, urging him to admit that he intended to murder Reeva, though the athlete always stuck to his version of the story.
Reeva’s mother, June, suffered a life-changing stroke last year. She is slowly recovering but previous reports have suggested that her memory has been impacted.
