Fifa has insisted it is “not selling football” after Uefa threatened to boycott future World Cups over its controversial sell-off plan.
Football’s governing body hit back at critics on Friday morning, saying it would “not ever entertain” selling out the sport despite mounting opposition to the proposal.
Fifa also insisted it “respects the feedback and concern” raised by Uefa and other confederations but claimed its consultation process had been disrupted by “incorrect media reports”.
The organisation said the proposed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) would remain permanently owned and controlled by Fifa and would not alter the governance of world football.
