Opposition Members of Parliament convened for a lunch meeting hosted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Connaught Place, New Delhi. The gathering follows a series of demonstrations by opposition groups, with youth wings including the National Students’ Union of India and the Indian Youth Congress staging protests and chanting slogans outside the venue. Protesters and leaders reiterated demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging electoral misconduct and calling for resignation and accountability. The meeting comes in the wake of recent protests where opposition leaders boarded buses to move towards protest venues, leading to confrontations and detentions by the police. Leaders mentioned that opposition parties had been invited to deliberate on joint strategies and peaceful agitation plans, while arrangements such as buses were deployed to move together without disrupting public traffic. Delhi Police maintained security arrangements around the venue as leaders arrived.
