Nominees for the 2026 LOGIE Awards announced

Nominees for the 2026 LOGIE Awards announced

The nominees for the 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards were revealed this morning in Sydney.

It’s that time of year again. Surprises, shocks, faux amazement, and still a bunch of people saying silly things like “I’ve never even heard of them.” We have some of the best talent in front of and behind the camera in the world here in Australia and it’s right that we should celebrate them…enter the 66th Annual TV Week Logie Awards.

It’s also right that a category be named after Australia’s most loved sporting commentator in Bruce McAvaney. He joins Ray Martin, Bert Newton and Graham Kennedy in being honoured with a named award, and each act as a reminder of the impact they’ve had on our lives. Congratulations indeed to Bruce.

More and more nominations are starting to come through for shows and talent that airs only on subscription streaming services too. A sign of the times, indeed.

One thing is for sure: all eyes will be on host and Gold Logie nominee Robert Irwin. Can he pull it off? He does sincerity very well, though a host needs to have some strong comedic chops and not just chopped abs. Good luck to all nominated.

From the press release:

The seven nominees for the coveted TV WEEK Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television are:

  • Host and journalist, Ally Langdon
  • Presenter and comedian, Julia Morris
  • Journalist and presenter, Lisa Millar
  • Judge and co-host, Poh Ling Yeow
  • Presenter, Robert Irwin
  • Comedian and presenter, Sam Pang
  • Host and presenter, Todd Woodbridge

The night’s big winner will be determined by public vote and revealed on Sunday, 16 August at a ceremony held at The Star Sydney and broadcast live and exclusively on Seven and 7plus.

This morning, the TV WEEK Logie Awards also introduced the Bruce McAvaney Award for Most Popular Sports Presenter. Bruce McAvaney OAM has been involved in international sport at the highest level, broadcasting to huge audiences over five decades and is also a TV WEEK Logie Awards Hall of Fame recipient.

Born in South Australia in 1953 to a family who encouraged his passion, he was calling races while he was learning to read, keeping hand-written records of sporting results from around the globe and contacting his favourite commentators for advice on how to be the very best. He has hosted and called Australian Rules Football, Tennis, Horse Racing, Rugby Union and Swimming at the highest level. He has been involved in the Commonwealth Games and every Summer Olympics since 1984, as well as three Winter Olympics. Bruce will take to the stage to present the award named in his honour on Sunday, 16 August.

From free-to-air favourites to the streaming shows everyone has been talking about, the breadth and quality of original Australian storytelling on our screens right now is something to be proud of. These are your awards, so if a show or a star has moved you, made you laugh or kept you up past your bedtime, make your voice heard and vote!”

NSW Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper said: “Sydney and NSW are the beating heart of Australian screen production, providing the backdrop to so many of the shows we love to watch. It’s only fitting that we get to host the TV WEEK Logie Awards, and I can’t wait to see the red carpet rolled out for the industry’s biggest night. Congratulations to every nominee, I’m looking forward to celebrating your achievements while showing off everything our state has to offer to the rest of the country.”
