Nine locks in PREMIER LEAGUE rights for Stan through to 2034

Nine has secured the Premier League in Australia for another six seasons, extending its exclusive rights to the competition through to the end of the 2033/34 season.

The long-term extension will keep every Premier League match live and exclusive on Stan Sport, with Nine locking away one of the biggest drivers of its sports streaming business well beyond the current agreement.

The deal comes with two seasons still remaining on Nine’s existing agreement, meaning the Premier League will remain on Stan Sport through to the end of the 2033/34 season.

Nine has not disclosed the financial terms of the new agreement, although earlier reports have suggested the six-year extension could be worth close to US$600 million.

The announcement comes just over a year after Nine acquired selected Optus Sport assets, including its Premier League and Emirates FA Cup media rights, bringing the competition to Stan Sport from the 2025/26 season.

The existing rights agreements were due to run through the 2027/28 seasons.

In a statement, Nine Entertainment CEO Matt Stanton said the Premier League had been a major success for the business since moving to Stan.

“Football is the ultimate global game, followed with remarkable intensity by millions of fans across Australia.”

“Bringing the Premier League to Stan has been a genuine game-changer for our business, and we are very pleased to be extending the partnership for a further six years.”

Nine Managing Director of Streaming & Broadcast Amanda Laing said the Premier League had also become a significant driver of Stan Sport subscriptions.

“The Premier League rights have been one of the largest drivers of subscriptions in Stan Sport history and were a key contributor to our strong financial results in FY26.”

Laing said the extension would ensure football fans could continue accessing every match through Stan Sport.

“Retaining the rights to the biggest football league in the world for another six years ensures football fans across the country continue to get the comprehensive, premium coverage they deserve, backed by the full power of Nine’s ecosystem.”

Premier League Chief Media Officer Paul Molnar said the competition was pleased to continue its partnership with Stan.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Stan for a further six seasons, ensuring fans across Australia can continue to enjoy every Premier League match live through to the end of the 2033/34 season.”

The 2026/27 Premier League season is already underway, with every match available live and exclusive on Stan Sport.

Stan Sport also holds the Australian rights to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, Women’s Super League and Emirates FA Cup.
