Following the Uttar Pradesh MLC election results, the Samajwadi Party has urged ally Congress to show generosity in seat-sharing discussions ahead of the assembly elections. The Samajwadi Party secured five seats, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party in key constituencies such as Varanasi and Lucknow, while the Congress won zero seats. With Congress earlier seeking up to 200 seats, Samajwadi Party leaders stated that the focus must be on winning capability rather than mere seat allocation.
