Sydney based television executive, writer and producer Mike Jones has announced his departure from BBC Studios ANZ, where he oversaw scripted development across drama and comedy projects.
Jones confirmed the departure via a LinkedIn post late last week, bringing a relatively brief stint as Head of Development, Scripted, at the production company to a close after joining in March 2025.
A familiar name in Australian scripted television, Jones has built a career as a writer, producer and story developer across a wide range of television dramas and feature films. He also co-authored the novel The Reparation.

At BBC Studios ANZ, Jones oversaw the development of original and adapted scripted projects for local and international markets, spanning both drama and comedy.
In announcing his departure, Jones said he was “moving on from my role at BBC Studios” and would be focusing on new projects, while leaving the door open to future collaborations across the industry.
No details regarding a replacement have been announced.
TV Blackbox has contacted BBC Studios ANZ for comment.
