Memory Lane | Write Out Loud

Memory Lane

I walk down familiar places

With recollections and dreamy traces

Visions of happy times they abound

I speak to you but you make no sound

Memory Lane

Times and echoes chime of long ago

Daily I try to survive but I miss you so

Memory Lane

Down the street where we had a home

I took a furtive stroll alone

Passed the front door and reminisced

A welcoming step where we once kissed

The sound of joy and laughter I recall

With you by my side I walked tall

Memory Lane

It’s now an empty place of history

Time marches on that’s no mystery

Laughter and joy fears and tears

Emotions are ringing in my ears

Memory lane

Nostalgia seems like a good way to cope

A beacon when you have lost all hope

Memory lane

Daily reminders are always  there

A tv show or radio song played on air

Photographs together offer respite

Difficult times are the dead of night

Alone in my grief now we are apart

But I carry you forever in my heart

Memory lane

Everything changes and moves on

Nothing remains it’s the same old song

Here today and gone tomorrow

A whirlwind of elation and sorrow

Memory lane

The hurt and pain you carry and strive

Right here right now you are alive

Memory lane

Memory lane

It lives alone in the past

Moments they dont last

Your existence is fading fast

Memory lane
