“To sign for, what is in my opinion, the biggest club in Australia, is such an exciting moment and the start of what I hope to be a special next chapter in my career,” said Sawyer, after news of his move was made official.
“It is great to be back in a city that I know so well. I look forward to playing at AAMI Park as a Victory player, and I can’t wait to give everything for our supporters.”
Sawyer’s career has seen him travel far and wide since making his A-Leagues debut with the Newcastle Jets in 2017.
The 29-year-old had spells in the Philippines, Hong Kong, India and Finland before he enjoyed a scintillating spell with NPL Victoria side South Melbourne, where he won the NPL Victoria title as well the Golden Boot in both 2022 and 2024.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football John Didulica welcomed Sawyer’s arrival.
“Harry has been a hugely effective player in recent seasons and one that has made a real impact in whichever league he has played, so we are especially happy to bring him to Melbourne Victory.
“His football journey and consistent performances demonstrate significant resilience and will provide us with not only a highly impactful player, but one who provides both complementary and alternate attributes to our other options in the final third.”
Sawyer becomes the second signing of the Savarese era after the club poached former Melbourne City youngster Harry Shillington from their crosstown rivals.
