Mark Ockerbloom, an award-winning anchor at Boston 25 News, will leave the station after more than two decades of employment, the outlet announced Monday.
Ockerbloom’s last day on-air will be May 15, Boston 25 News said in an announcement.
“I want to thank all of the talented people I’ve had the privilege of working with day in and day out. I’d also like to acknowledge and thank my many viewers who always trusted me to bring them accurate information,” Ockerbloom said in the announcement.
Prior to joining Boston 25 News in 2004, the Winchester native was a sports anchor for NECN and a sportscaster for KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City, an online profile for Ockerbloom said.
During his time at Boston 25 News, Ockerbloom “has played a pivotal role in shaping the station’s news coverage,” the station said.
Over the past 22 years, Ockerbloom covered major events like the Boston Marathon bombings and the capture of Whitey Bulger, along with “too many Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Finals, and Stanley Cup playoffs to count,” the outlet said.
Ockerbloom has won four New England Emmy Awards for his reporting. In 2025, he was honored by the New England chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with a Silver Circle Award for his “contributions to local broadcasting,” Boston 25 wrote.
“40 years in broadcasting is a long time, but now it’s time to turn the page and write a new chapter, including spending more time with my family,” the anchor wrote.
