The minister stated that there are misconceptions about Islam and mentioned studying various religions while expressing an inclination toward visiting Mecca. In response, the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly questioned the silence of the Chief Minister and accused the Congress government of harboring an anti-Hindu mindset. The opposition has demanded that the minister withdraw the statement, tender an apology, and be removed from the cabinet if he refuses to do so.
