Prospective buyers were told to bring a valid ID and $20,000 in bank funds to register and bid live, according to the auctioneer’s website. The SUV only has about 12,000 miles on it, the site said.

When we asked Boston.com readers how much they thought the SUV would sell for, more than 200 readers responded. The majority of readers (about 35%) estimated the SUV would go for less than $70,000, citing the vehicle’s troubled history.

Prosecutors alleged Read backed her Lexus into her boyfriend, Boston Police John O’Keefe, after a night of drinking on Jan. 29, 2022. Read was ultimately acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges, but was convicted of a drunk driving misdemeanor.

Read faces a wrongful death lawsuit filed against her in Plymouth Superior Court by O’Keefe’s family.
