A tragedy in Rawalpindi has sparked growing online outcry for justice for 45-year-old Hina Javed, whose death raised questions about alleged domestic abuse. As the campaign #JusticeForHina gains momentum, actress Mahira Khan has joined calls for accountability, amplifying Hina’s family’s demand for answers and justice.
The campaign also gets support from Lollywood with stars extending support to the family’s demand for answers. Online posts circulated with the hashtag #JusticeForHina, show growing public concern over the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death.

Hina was found dead on Thursday morning inside the bathroom of a second-floor apartment at Askari Apartments in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area. Hina’s brother, Fahad Javed Malik, said his sister’s father-in-law reportedly contacted him early in the morning and said there was an emergency. When Malik and other relatives reached the apartment, they found Hina dead.
The case alleges that her hands had been tied behind her back, her mouth had been covered with cloth and a wire had been placed around her neck and connected to the bathroom shower. Police subsequently collected evidence from the apartment and sent her body to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Hina’s family alleged that her death followed a period of domestic difficulties and repeated abuse. Her brother said Hina previously complained about mistreatment during her marriage. The family has accused her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, his domestic worker Zeeshan Arshad and his father, Asghar Ali Fayyaz, of involvement in the incident.
These remain allegations, and the suspects have not been convicted. Police are continuing to investigate the case. Hina married Faisal Asghar Imam in November 2025. Her brother also alleged that Imam previously been abusive toward another wife, who eventually divorced him. Investigators will determine whether those claims have any bearing on the circumstances of Hina’s death.
Police registered the case under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to murder and acts allegedly carried out by multiple people sharing a common intention.
Civil Lines police station chief Asif Sajjad said the investigation was ongoing and that no arrests had been made at the time of his statement. Police have been searching for the accused and examining evidence recovered from the apartment. Authorities have not yet publicly established who was responsible for Hina’s death, leaving the investigation at a critical stage.
The case moved beyond the immediate circle of Hina’s family, with public figures joining calls for justice. Mahira Khan’s support has brought attention to the Justice for Hina campaign, amplifying the family’s demand that the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death be fully investigated and that those responsible face the law.
Her involvement comes as social media users continue sharing messages of solidarity and demanding accountability under #JusticeForHina.
For Hina’s family, however, the campaign is about more than a trending hashtag. It is a demand for answers over how a woman allegedly experiencing domestic abuse ended up dead inside her own home.
The death reignited a wider conversation about violence against women in Pakistan. The country has witnessed several high-profile cases in which allegations of domestic or gender-based violence have drawn national attention. Among them was the 2021 murder of Noor Mukadam in Islamabad.
