Jared Verse left a “close knit” group in the Los Angeles Rams as he described. His June 1 trade that swapped him with Myles Garrett shook up the NFL landscape. Verse ended up heading to a place that doesn’t have a Rams-like culture set in stone.
But the Browns’ personality flipped to a new intensity since his arrival.
Verse dove into the switch in persona inside the Browns’ facility when addressing reporters Monday. Including getting asked if Cleveland defenders have taken on his personality.
“One-hundred percent,” Verse began. “When you see the way I attack the game, I’m very physical, very violent, very loud, very expressive. [Then] when you see somebody like me go out there yelling and screaming, you have no problem showing your true character and you see everybody’s personality start to flourish on the field.”
The third-year pro and first-time Brown clearly is embracing his new leadership side since his arrival. He’s the one clearly setting the tone and aiming to get others around Verse to match his level of intensity. Verse even engaged in a scrap fest with rookie tackle Spencer Fano Monday.
Verse changed the phase of the Rams defense in winning the 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year nod, impacting the game in multiple ways as a rusher and coverage linebacker. Rams fans witnessed his true athleticism firsthand on this blocked field goal that became a long scoring scamper against the Atlanta Falcons.
Cleveland will hope to get a continuation of the dominant Verse from his first two NFL seasons.
