It starts slowly as the waning days of July as carry themselves into August growing slowly in intensity. For thousands of Eagles fans of all ages spending the first weeks in September savoring all of the last moments of vacation before returing to the routine of work and school — it’s a positive footnote for the second weekend of the month.

If you had the good fortune to be on the Ocean City Boardwalk during the Eagles Parade over Labor Day Weekend (which felt more like a Pep Rally than an organized march down the boardwalk with Swoop) you could feel the weight of the expectations of this upcoming season on full display much like the radio broadcast enjoyed by the last vacation hanger-ons still on the beach during the Eagles Opening Day Game.
Eagles fanfare at the shore follows another Philadelphia tradition — the late August opportunity to see the Public Practice at Eagles Training Camp. Another football obsession is wrapping up in the early days of this month as the Fantasy Football Leagues all over the region conclude the final drafts — with each Draft Board featuring Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Dallas Goedert, and the Eagles Defense all as top selections.
Being an Eagles fan in August; drafting top Eagles on your Fantasy Football Squad, attending parades and training camp aren’t just the transfer of hope from this city and its fan base onto a new Eagles roster.
Its more than just a feeling. It’s setting expectations for the season to come. One that began on Sunday with almost 70,000 fans in attendance at the Linc to see the Eagles and the Commanders. And lots of warm weather tailgating prior to kickoff.
