Instagram has launched one of its most requested updates to date, introducing a new feature that allows users to reorder their profile grid. The update gives people more control over how their content appears, making it easier to highlight important posts and create a more personalised profile layout.
The feature, called Reorder Grid, was rolled out on Monday, June 8, 2026, and is now available on the mobile app. It allows users to move posts around on their profile without deleting or reposting them, offering a simple way to redesign the look of an Instagram page.
Fetching content
Previously, Instagram profiles displayed posts strictly in chronological order, which limited how users could curate their grids. With this update, users can now arrange posts freely, giving them flexibility to showcase their best photos, key moments or themed content in a more intentional way.
Pinned posts will remain fixed at the top of the profile and will not be affected by the new rearranging option. The feature is designed to improve creative control, especially for creators, influencers and brands who rely on visual presentation.
Meta, Instagram’s parent company, has faced repeated user requests for this feature over the years. Many users wanted more control over their profile aesthetics without needing to delete older posts or use third-party workarounds.
The new tool is designed to make profile management easier and more flexible, especially for those who want to maintain a polished or curated feed. It also aligns with Instagram’s broader focus on giving users more customization options across the platform.
To use the feature, users simply need to press and hold a post on their profile until a menu appears. From there, selecting “Reorder grid” allows them to move posts into any desired order.
While the feature is currently limited to mobile devices, it is expected to become a key part of how users design and manage their Instagram presence going forward.
With this update, Instagram is shifting closer to a more flexible content layout system, giving users greater freedom over how their personal or professional profiles are displayed.
