For her debut look, Mona Patel arrived in custom Iris Van Herpen couture. A dreamy nude floor-grazing sculpted gown with a butterfly-shaped corset and scalloped train that pays homage to the theme Garden of Time. Her gown features kinetic flower petals encircling her arms, fluttering in slow motion, a design devised by the entrepreneur herself.
Frieda Pinto
Freida Pinto was a vision at the 2011 Met Gala, themed Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, in an ivory silk Chanel couture gown from the house’s spring/summer 2010 collection—elegant, understated and right on theme. Fresh off the global success of Slumdog Millionaire, she was among the first Indian actors to grace the Met steps, long before it became a regular Bollywood affair. By 2016, for Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, Pinto switched gears. In a Tory Burch gown created in collaboration with Swarovski, she wore a sleek white look traced with crystal embellishments in a precise, cross-hatched pattern, subtly echoing the circuitry of computer microchips.
