How Wafa Alamm Built a Career Across Media and Entrepreneurship

Long before Wafa Alamm became a media professional, media was already part of her childhood.

At just 11 years old, she received a “Little Journalist” card from a newspaper in Bahrain after her father brought it home. The moment stayed with her. It was a small card, but it represented the beginning of a dream that would eventually shape her professional life.

Her connection to media was also deeply personal. Her father was a journalist who covered arts and cultural events in Bahrain, writing about the local arts scene and interviewing artists and celebrities. As a young girl, Wafa accompanied him and helped with his work.

Without realizing it at the time, she was learning more than journalism. She was discovering curiosity, storytelling and the power of connecting with people.

From Local Media to a Larger World

Wafa eventually entered the media industry professionally in her early twenties, initially working as a freelancer before joining the investigative department of a newspaper and later moving into political journalism.

The transition required her to establish herself among experienced media professionals while building her own voice from the ground up.

Then came Beirut in 2011.

Moving from Bahrain into Arab regional and international media changed the scale of her professional world. Her earlier experience had been largely connected to local print and broadcast media, including work with Bahrain Television. In Beirut, she encountered a much wider political landscape.

She had to understand how regional conflicts connected with international politics, how countries interacted and how events across borders influenced one another.

In many ways, she describes the experience as learning media again.

But that challenge expanded her perspective. Media became more than reporting what happened. It became a way to understand why events mattered and how they affected communities and people beyond national borders.

When Media Became a Responsibility

For Wafa, media is fundamentally connected to awareness and responsibility.

Her work has increasingly focused on political, cultural and historical questions, while remaining drawn to human stories and questions of identity.

One question particularly resonates with her: Who are we?

She believes understanding the present requires an understanding of history, culture, achievements, mistakes and the experiences that shaped societies.

That philosophy also informs her broader view of media. It can bring difficult issues into public conversation, encourage deeper questions and remind audiences of the humanity shared across nationalities, cultures and backgrounds.

For Wafa, storytelling is therefore not simply about delivering information. It is about creating space for understanding.

Canada and the Decision to Build Again

After establishing herself in international media, Wafa moved to Canada, a transition that brought a completely different professional and personal challenge.

For a period, she found herself outside the media environment that had defined much of her career. The move forced her to reconsider where she belonged and what could come next.

Eventually, she stopped looking for a way back and began creating a new path.

That decision led her into entrepreneurship.

She founded One Frame Production, a Canada-based media and communications company that produces media content for organizations and strategic, creative and marketing content for businesses and institutions.

Entrepreneurship gave Wafa something she had increasingly valued throughout her career: independence.

It created space to develop ideas, create content and communicate without being restricted by the editorial boundaries of another organization.

Building Influence Through Communication

Wafa’s entrepreneurial work has expanded beyond production.

She is also the founder of The Power of Me, a training and professional development platform focused on communication and influence, public speaking, media skills, leadership and professional self-development.

The platform reflects another dimension of her career: helping people strengthen the way they communicate and present themselves.

At the same time, Wafa remains connected to media and journalism. She continues working as a correspondent for Monte Carlo Doualiya, covering political and regional affairs, while developing political, cultural, historical and thought-provoking content through her digital platforms.

Her entrepreneurial journey has also received recognition, including One Frame Production being recognized as a Canadian Choice Award winner. She has been nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards and recognized through the Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Network. She also represented One Frame Production in the ISANS Immigrant Women Entrepreneur Pitch Competition.

A Journey Defined by Reinvention

More than two decades after that childhood “Little Journalist” card, Wafa Alamm’s career continues to evolve.

From Bahrain to Beirut and later Canada, each major transition has required her to adapt, learn and rebuild. Yet the purpose underneath those changes has remained remarkably consistent: communicate, create awareness, tell meaningful stories and encourage deeper understanding.

Her philosophy is rooted in trusting herself, remaining loyal to her dreams and seeing challenges as opportunities for transformation.

She also believes strongly in human potential and universal human values, while maintaining a deep connection to Arab identity, history and culture.

For Wafa, success is not a final destination. It is an ongoing process of growth.

The girl who once carried a “Little Journalist” card has spent more than two decades turning that early spark into a career that crosses media, journalism, production, entrepreneurship, communication and leadership.

And her story continues to be written, one new chapter at a time.
