Moringa leaves are packed with nutrients, and if you have a moringa plant at home, you can easily turn its fresh leaves into a homemade powder that can be stored for months.
Dr Meena Singh, who runs the Instagram channel @gardening_ka_keeda, shares a simple method that requires just fresh moringa leaves, tissue paper or a kitchen towel, a microwave, and a mixer grinder.
Start by picking the tender leaves from the moringa plant. Remove any stems or unwanted parts, then rinse the leaves if needed and allow them to dry.
The simple drying trick
Take a plate and cover it with tissue paper or a clean kitchen towel. Spread the moringa leaves in a single layer over it. Place the plate in the microwave and heat the leaves for one minute.
After the first cycle, take out the plate and gently rearrange the leaves so they dry evenly. Microwave them again for another minute.
Keep checking the leaves after each cycle. The exact time may vary depending on the quantity of leaves and the microwave. The leaves are ready when they feel completely dry and crumble easily when pressed between your fingers.
Once the leaves have dried, transfer them to a mixer grinder. Grind them well until they turn into a fine green powder.
Your homemade moringa powder is now ready.
Transfer the powder into a clean, completely dry bottle and close it tightly. According to Dr Singh, the homemade powder can be stored for around three to four months.
This is an easy way to make use of fresh moringa leaves at home instead of letting them go to waste. With just a few steps, the leaves can be dried, powdered, and stored for later use.
