Harold Fannin Jr. lauds rookies after his game vs. Steelers

Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. credits KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston for helping him deliver a career-best performance against the Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns suffered a 27-6 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but tight end Harold Fannin Jr. continued to offer reasons for optimism with his stellar performance. Following the game, Fannin credited rookie wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston for playing an important role in his productive outing.

During his postgame press conference, Fannin explained how the presence of the two explosive receivers has created additional opportunities for him in Cleveland’s passing offense.

“Obviously, those guys are very explosive. They do their job very well. And there goes me, probably somewhere in the checkdown, somewhere opens up more attempts for me because obviously they’re going to take more guys to go cover them. So I definitely say they’ve been, you know, probably a lot more focused on them, and that’s where I come into play,” Fannin said.

Cleveland entered Sunday’s game hoping to make a statement against its AFC North rivals. However, the Steelers controlled the matchup and secured a convincing victory.

Despite the disappointing result, Fannin was arguably Cleveland’s most productive offensive player against Pittsburgh, finishing with 10 receptions for a career-high 154 receiving yards on 12 targets. He averaged 15.4 yards per reception while recording a long gain of 37 yards.

His 154 receiving yards were particularly significant as they marked the second-most receiving yards ever recorded by a Browns tight end in a single game.

Despite Fannin’s eye-catching numbers, Cleveland could not translate its passing production into enough points to challenge Pittsburgh. Watson completed 27 of 39 passes for 324 yards, but the Browns failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season.

The loss left the Browns at 5-3. Cleveland will now turn its attention to its upcoming matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
