FIFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Argentina over players holding up Falklands banner

FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Argentina over possible breaches of several laws during the World Cup.

Argentina players held up a banner reading “the Falklands are Argentine” after beating England 2-1 in the semi-finals.

The breaches relate to team misconduct, security and protocol failures, inappropriate messages being displayed and the use of discriminatory chants and gestures.
