Faran Tahir is an internationally recognized Pakistani actor who began his professional acting career in Hollywood. He has now returned to Pakistan and is working in hit dramas such as Bus Tera Saath Ho, Leader, and Tapish. Faran is the son of veteran actor Naeem Tahir and legendary broadcaster Yasmeen Tahir, and the brother of renowned actor Ali Tahir. Two years ago, he moved back to Pakistan to take care of his ailing mother, who later passed away on July 19, 2025, in Lahore at the age of 88.
Today, the actor shared an emotional tribute to his mother, Yasmeen Tahir, on her first death anniversary. Alongside her picture, Faran penned a heartfelt Instagram post.
Faran Tahir wrote, “It still feels strange to say that my mother is no longer a phone call away. To the world, she was Yasmeen Tahir. A gifted actress. A remarkable voice on Radio Pakistan. A writer. A host. A recipient of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz. A woman whose grace and intellect left an indelible mark on Pakistan’s cultural landscape. To me, she was simply Ammi. She taught me that kindness is not weakness, that dignity is something you carry even when no one is watching, and that the work you leave behind matters far less than the lives you touch along the way. She lived with quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a generosity of spirit that shaped everyone fortunate enough to know her. Much of who I am—as an artist and as a human being—began with her. Not a day passes that I don’t find myself reaching for a lesson she taught, a memory she gave us, or hearing her voice in my heart. We miss her deeply, but we are endlessly grateful that she was ours. Please keep her in your prayers and remember her with the warmth and love she so freely gave to others. I love you, Ammi.
