The TV icon revealed his plans despite being snubbed by TV WEEK in its top 70 TV shows list.
Hey Hey It’s Saturday fans are in for a treat with the upcoming launch of a new streaming service called ‘Hey Hey TV’ and an immersive theatre show.
While fans can already subscribe to HeyHey.tv to watch old episodes of the classic show, this new service is partnered with Vimeo and will offer many new features.
“Well, we’re taking the dot out for start,”

Daryl joked in reference to the current website domain.
Joining me for a rare interview on my YouTube show McKnight Tonight, Daryl explains he is about to shoot brand new hosting links for the venture, which will also house over 800 episodes.
“I’ve already named one little segment called Bite Size Chunks, as in B-Y-T-E, um, and it will be me doing little memories of why we went to Hollywood in ‘91, why we end up in Florida at Disney World in ‘96 and all associated stories and, and funny things that happened with guests and the, their reactions and whatever.”
You can watch the full interview in the YouTube player below:
Once the new streaming service launches, Daryl will finalise plans for a HEY HEY stage show. There will be a giant LED screen to show highlights plus a band and special guests.
Daryl doesn’t do many interviews these days but made an exception to talk about Hey Hey being snubbed by TV WEEK in its list of the Top 70 Aussie Shows of All Time.
A shortlist of 140 shows was provided by the magazine for readers to choose from, which will create the final 70.
While readers can nominate their own favourites, polls like this usually favour those on the shortlist.
“Bewildered. I’m honestly bewildered” Daryl reveals.
“I was trying to think why. I thought maybe it’s a PR stunt that takes something obvious off the list and it’ll create controversy and therefore gives them more publicity for their list,”
“But I, you know, I would dearly love to know the real reason why we’re not included”.

Wouldn’t we all Daryl!
Fans aren’t happy about the show being excluded, with some blaming wokeness, saying the humour of the show doesn’t fit with today’s standards.
You can watch the full interview with Daryl on the McKnight Tonight YouTube page, where Daryl opens up about the legacy of the show and shares some never-before-heard stories.
