England fans have descended on Boston just as the Tartan Army packed their bags, and the handover hasn’t exactly been graceful.
Videos circulating on social media capture English supporters belting out rather colourful chants outside the bars and restaurants where Scottish fans had been celebrating for a fortnight.
“So f*** off Tartan Army, you’ve had your f***ing party, you’re going home,” rang out from one group of Three Lions faithful.
Another clip showed dozens of England fans singing that “Scotland get battered everywhere they go,” with one video boldly claiming the “English have kicked the Scottish out of Boston.”

The footage has sparked quite the debate online, with some dismissing it as friendly banter while others pointed to a clear difference in tone between the two sets of supporters.
The Dubliner, which became the unofficial headquarters for Scotland’s travelling support, is now gearing up for another wave of thirsty visitors.

Bar manager Brian McDonnell has brought in two mobile fridge units and drafted extra staff from sister venues across the city to cope with demand.
The pub experienced what McDonnell described as “St Patrick’s Day every day” during the Scottish occupation, with punters queuing for three hours on Saturday just to get through the door.
The numbers are staggering – the venue shifted 120 kegs of Tennent’s and 160 kegs of Guinness during the Tartan Army’s stay, amounting to nearly 20,000 pints of the black stuff alone.

“This has been the biggest business we have ever done,” McDonnell said. “This has blown everything out of the water.”
Despite the marathon drinking sessions, McDonnell had nothing but praise for the Scottish supporters’ conduct throughout their fortnight in the city.
“They are big boozers, big partiers – but while doing all that, they caused zero problems,” he said. “I don’t think we’ve had to kick out a single person. There’s been no scraps, no malice from anyone.”
With England fans now flooding into Boston ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Ghana at Gillette Stadium, the bar manager is hoping the Three Lions faithful can live up to the benchmark set by their Celtic neighbours.
“The Scots have really set a high standard with regard to the party but also just their behaviour and everything,” McDonnell said. “So I hope the English can follow suit.”
Away from the chanting, there were genuine moments of cross-border camaraderie as the two sets of supporters crossed paths.
Mike Jennison, a 32-year-old England fan from Stockport, was spotted embracing kilt-wearing Glaswegian Campbell Burns in The Dubliner. “Although he is Scottish he is actually really nice,” Jennison joked, before declaring: “But we can outdrink the Scots.”

Other English supporters played keepie uppie in the streets with Scottish fans and locals alike, describing the atmosphere as “cracking.”
Mark Richardson, a 29-year-old banker from north London, recalled being called over by Scotland fans in a bar: “They just put their arms around us and we all had a drink together.”
