Dubai has outlined an ambitious roadmap for tourism, events and infrastructure growth for the remainder of 2026, as officials reaffirmed the city’s commitment to strengthening its position as a leading global destination for business and leisure.
The plans were presented during the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism’s (DET) bi-annual City Briefing at Dubai Opera, which brought together more than 1,700 leaders from the tourism, aviation, hospitality, retail and events sectors.
Dubai Tourism Focuses on Growth and Resilience
The briefing was held in the presence of Helal Saeed Almarri and focused on industry resilience, responses to recent regional developments and major initiatives planned for the second half of the year.
Issam Kazim said Dubai’s tourism ecosystem continues to benefit from strong collaboration between public and private sector partners, helping the city maintain growth and competitiveness.
Officials said the focus remains on supporting long-term growth while advancing the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Dubai Tourism Builds on Strong Performance
According to DET, Dubai entered 2026 from a position of strength following record international visitation in 2025.
Officials highlighted 6.4 percent GDP growth during the fourth quarter of 2025, alongside 95.2 million passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport.
Growth was also reported across tourism, hospitality, retail and events sectors.
DET said the tourism ecosystem responded quickly to recent regional developments through contingency planning, coordination with aviation partners and support measures for businesses.
Major Dubai Events Planned for 2026
A significant part of the briefing focused on Dubai’s upcoming calendar of events.
Ahmed Al Khaja said events remain a key driver of tourism and economic activity across the emirate.
Among the major initiatives planned for the remainder of the year are:
- Dubai Summer Surprises beginning in July
- The Great Dubai Summer Sale
- Summer Restaurant Week
- Family-focused entertainment and cultural experiences
- The 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge from October 31 to November 29
Officials said Dubai Summer Surprises will continue supporting retail and hospitality sectors while strengthening Dubai’s appeal as a summer destination.
Dubai Expands Global Tourism Marketing
DET confirmed that Dubai continues promoting the city across more than 80 international source markets through a network of over 3,000 global partners.
Officials said maintaining visitor demand and reinforcing Dubai’s international reputation remain key priorities.
The department added that Dubai continues communicating a consistent message to global markets that the city remains safe, operational and ready to welcome visitors.
Major Infrastructure Projects Support Dubai Tourism
Tourism growth plans are also being backed by major transport and infrastructure investments.
Officials highlighted the newly approved Gold Line Metro project, which will provide a 42-kilometre underground connection across 15 districts in Dubai.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line also remains on schedule for its planned 2029 opening.
Another major project is the US$35 billion expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, which is expected to become the world’s largest aviation hub and play a key role in Dubai’s long-term economic development strategy.
Dubai Tourism Continues to Support D33 Goals
The City Briefing concluded with renewed commitments from government entities and private sector partners to strengthen cooperation, support tourism growth and advance the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
With major events, international marketing campaigns and infrastructure projects moving forward, Dubai is positioning itself for continued growth throughout 2026 and beyond.
