Dr Raman Kishore Has Treated Over 40000 Patients for Free Across Bihar’s Remote Villages After Losing His Mother

Most people spend a lifetime trying to recover from personal loss. For Dr Raman Kishore, that loss became the reason he chose a very different life.

In his first year of MBBS, he watched his mother fall critically ill. There was no hospital nearby and no doctor who could reach her in time. He could do nothing but watch her suffer before losing her.

That experience stayed with him. That day, he made a promise he would spend the rest of his life keeping.

“No one should ever lose a loved one simply because the hospital was too far away.”

Years later, after becoming the first doctor from his village in Bihar, Dr Raman could have built a successful private practice. Instead, he chose to take healthcare to the people who needed it the most.

Since 2020, every weekend has seen him travel across some of Bihar’s most remote villages, setting up free medical camps for people who usually have little or no access to healthcare. He spends between 80 and 90 percent of his salary on these camps, humbly funding medicines, consultations, and diagnostic tests without asking for donations or support.

Patients receive ECGs, blood sugar tests, medicines, and medical advice, all free of cost. Week after week, he returns to villages where a doctor’s visit is still a rarity.

Over the years, more than 40,000 people have received treatment through his camps. For many families, these visits have meant timely diagnoses, life-saving treatment, and the reassurance that someone is willing to make the journey when others cannot.

When villagers tell him, “Doctor saab, you saved my life,” the words carry a meaning that goes beyond gratitude. They remind him of the promise he made after losing his mother and of the countless lives that have been changed because he chose not to walk away from that pain.

For thousands of families, he has become the doctor they never thought would come.
