Penty wore a crinkled sari by designer Manish Malhotra that had a nostalgic appeal to it, driven home by the halterneck blouse that was a mainstay in ’90s fashion.
The part-net, part-satin sari, from the designer’s latest collection, is a pre-draped style with printed floral designs. The border features sequin embroidery with paillettes all across while the pallu also has tassels made of bugle beads and sequins. The high-neck halterneck blouse’s neckline also features the handiwork that moonlights as jewellery, so the wearer can do away with wearing a necklace in entirety. The look is a creative mish-mash of elements from the ’90s—like digital printing, heat pleating and the halterneck.
Penty elevated her simple look by accessorising with a variety of new jewellery from Manish Malhotra’s fine jewellery line’s debut collection that showcases designs made with stylising the letter M as a leitmotif. The actor is seen wearing mismatched earrings that are two different sides of the same pair of reversible earrings with one side featuring an onyx front and the other ear showcasing the house logo. She has also stacked bracelets from the collection with multiple rings and a hand jewellery design inspired by the traditional Indian haath phool, originally worn by brides.
