Deshaun Watson was in hot water with the Browns fanbase before the season, but he is calling for their support after a Week 2 win.
The Cleveland Browns have a rowdy fanbase. With all of the losing over the year, the Dawg Pound has been through a lot, but they’ve always stayed loyal to the brown and orange. However, Browns fans also aren’t afraid to speak their mind, and boos are frequent in Huntington Bank Field.
Before the start of the season, Cleveland’s quarterback Deshaun Watson learned quickly not to get on the fanbase’s bad side. Watson called the fans disrespectful and thought that their boos toward him were personal and not because of his on-field production. Watson’s comments drew a lot of flak, yet he was named the starting QB over Shedeur Sanders nonetheless. Now, the former CFP national champion is ensuring that he is in good graces with Browns nation.
“I never want to try and go at war with the fans,” Watson said. “The biggest thing is we are just ready for support, ready to feel the energy, ready to get this big W for the city of Cleveland and continue this great feeling that we have this week.”

Watson not only confirmed a commitment to the fanbase, but he also emphasized how much head coach Todd Monken has helped him through his journey. Watson has dealt with off-the-field drama and the label of being attached to the worst trade and contract in NFL history. Despite the low points, Watson led the Browns to a surprise Week 2 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
