According to the company, the show explores “the messy, complicated and deeply human lives” of older Australians who refuse to be defined by age.

The ensemble cast also features Wayne Blair, Catherine McClements, Kate Winter, Carolyn Bock, Russell Dykstra, Kirk Torrance, Ryan Panizza, Tess Bowers, David Roberts and John Doyle.

The story begins when ex-cameraman Billy (Hugo Weaving) meets restaurateur Dani (Heather Mitchell) on a Sydney Harbour ferry. Despite an immediate attraction, Billy is married to Rose (Georgie Parker), his wife of 40 years.

When Billy introduces Dani to Rose, the encounter sets off a chain of events affecting their wider circle, with relationships forming and breaking amid shifting truths and unreliable memories.

Heather Mitchell also serves as a producer alongside John Edwards and Dan Edwards from Roadshow Rough Diamond. The company is known for titles including Bump and Romper Stomper, while John Edwards has previously worked on Offspring, Tangle, Love My Way and The Secret Life of Us.

Executive producers include Sophia Mogford, Head of Scripted and Comedy at Paramount Australia, and Pip Karmel. Writing credits go to Pip Karmel, Jock Serong, Christopher Lee and Liz Doran, with direction from Matthew Saville and Emma Jackson.

“Paramount+ is thrilled to be working with Rough Diamond again on this timeless series.

Dalliance is about a group of friends who have history.

It encompasses love, rivalries, jealousy and passion, but most of all connection, themes that we all relate to and our audience will relish.”
