An 18-year-old man pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder Friday after turning himself in to Boston police in connection with a deadly Hyde Park gas station shooting.

Christian Peebles is also charged with several firearms-related offenses after he allegedly shot and killed 20-year-old Darryl Aleo inside Akiki Oil Wednesday. Authorities have said little about the circumstances of the shooting.

Peebles turned himself in to police Friday morning, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. He made an initial appearance in the Boston Municipal Court’s West Roxbury Division and was ordered held without bail in light of the murder charge.

Judge John Garland also revoked Peebles’s bail in an earlier case, the docket for which does not appear to be publicly available. An attorney for Peebles could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

Boston police said officers responded to a reported shooting at 1171 Hyde Parke Ave. shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday and found Aleo suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed Aleo to a local hospital, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is still investigating the fatal shooting, and authorities urged anyone with information to call 617-343-4470. Community members can also provide information anonymously by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to “CRIME” (27463).

The Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team is also available to provide free, private support 24/7 at 617-431-0125, police said.

Peebles is due back in court Nov. 9.
