A new neighbourhood pizzeria is set to fire up in Torrens Park, with Notti’s Pizza taking over the former Ey Fonzi site after the much-loved local favourite closed its doors in late February.
The venue is the first brick-and-mortar venture from chef Jamie Laing and his wife Emily, who currently own catering business Emily and the Chef.
While it’s their first permanent venue, the pair bring more than 20 years of hospitality experience. Jamie has worked in kitchens across Adelaide, including Maximillians, Magill Estate, and most recently Ember Hospitality, where he cooked across Dolly, Olivetti, and Spread Delicatessen.
Living locally themselves, the couple were gutted when their local pizza shop closed – before realising it could be the perfect opportunity to create something new in the neighbourhood.
“I don’t want to open your average pizza shop,” Jamie told Glam Adelaide.
“I wanted to make it something that’s a little bit different, that’s also affordable, that you can keep going back to.”
He said that although it would be predominantly takeaway based, there would be an option to dine in, with the venue leaning into an “old school pizzeria vibe” with a record player and laid-back setting.
“We really just want a cool, funky space that you feel comfortable walking into,” he said.
The menu will feature hand-stretched 48-hour fermented sourdough pizzas in a 12-inch size, alongside take-home meals including lasagnes, pasta sauce and dried pasta.
The pizzas will include classics like margherita and pepperoni, alongside more creative options like a cheesy green vegetarian pizza and a pork and fennel sausage pizza.
A pizza of the week will also feature seasonal produce sourced from Adelaide Hills farmers.
“I know a few local farmers in Adelaide Hills, so we’ll be talking to them and finding out what they have going on this season,” Jamie said.
“It’s just about getting it open in the initial start and building it from there,” he said.
