Code Blue activated across South Australia as storms and rain move in

South Australians are being urged to look out for those doing it tough this week, with a statewide Code Blue response activated ahead of forecast storms and rain.

Following advice from the Bureau of Meteorology, the Department of Human Services has confirmed the emergency response will be in place across South Australia on Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd.

Code Blue activations are triggered when dangerous weather conditions are expected, with additional services and support made available for people experiencing homelessness.

The assistance available varies depending on weather conditions, location and the capacity of local service providers, and can include access to emergency accommodation, transport, welfare checks and other support services.

People who are sleeping rough, or anyone concerned about someone who may need assistance, can contact Homeless Connect SA on 1800 003 308, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to access support or find out what services are available in their area.

Members of the public are also encouraged to check in on vulnerable people where it is safe to do so and share information about available support services with anyone who may need them.

With wet and stormy conditions expected across much of the state over the next two days, authorities are reminding everyone to take care while travelling, stay updated with the latest weather warnings, and ensure those most at risk know where to seek help.
