A major political controversy has erupted in Karnataka’s Mandya district after the daughter of BJP MLA B Suresh Gowda was caught on camera assaulting a woman police officer on special security duty at a temple. An argument allegedly broke out over a delay in darshan, leading the MLA’s daughter to abuse, slap, and obstruct the cop from discharging her duty. An FIR has been registered against her under four sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In response, the MLA’s daughter filed a counter-complaint alleging that the police officer first abused her after allowing off-duty cops to jump the queue into the sanctum sanctorum.
