Boston Latin School remains at the top of U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the best high schools in Massachusetts.
Ranked 44th nationally, Boston Latin rose two spots in its national ranking this year and is the only school in Massachusetts ranked in the top 100 nationally.
But overall, Massachusetts was the state with the largest percentage of its high schools in the top 25% nationally, with 46.7% making the cut, followed by New Jersey (44.1%) and Maryland (42.7%).
The rankings are based on six factors: college readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%), and graduation rate (10%).
U.S. News also released its list of the top STEM high schools in the country, in addition to its general rankings. Six Massachusetts schools were featured in the top 50, with Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School ranking the highest in the state at No. 32.
In its ranking of the best charter schools nationally, two Massachusetts schools ranked in the top 50: Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School (No. 32) and Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (No. 39).
