Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim has broken the record of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan in Test cricket, moving into second place among Asian players with the longest Test careers.
Mushfiqur Rahim reached the milestone after featuring in Bangladesh’s Test match against Pakistan. His appearance extended his Test career span to 20 years and 351 days, taking him past Imran Khan’s mark of 20 years and 218 days.
With this achievement, Mushfiqur Rahim is now behind only former India captain Sachin Tendulkar on the Asian list. Tendulkar remains at the top with a Test career that lasted 24 years and one day.
Overall, the record for the longest Test career is held by England’s Wilfred Rhodes, whose career lasted 30 years and 315 days.
Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test cricket debut for Bangladesh against England at Lord’s on May 26, 2005. He has now played 101 Test matches, making him the only Bangladesh player to cross the 100-Test mark.
The milestone also adds another major achievement to Mushfiqur Rahim’s long career. In November 2025, he became the first Bangladesh player to play 100 Tests and also scored a century in that landmark match against Ireland.
